The successful event was featured in AVENUE Magazine's Parties and Events section.

Arlene Alda
Arlene Alda graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Hunter College, received a Fulbright Scholarship, and realized her dream of becoming a professional clarinetist, playing in the Houston Symphony under the baton of Leopold Stokowski. She switched careers when her children were young and became an award-winning photographer and author who has written nineteen books, including Just Kids from the Bronx, which will be released March 3, 2015. She is the mother of three daughters and the grandmother of eight. She and her husband, actor Alan Alda, live in New York City and Long Island.
Elliot Brownstein
Bronx Museum Trustee and President of Garage Management Company
Elliot Brownstein, a Bronx native son and graduate of DeWitt Clinton High School, has been an active member of the Bronx Museum Board of Trustees for over a decade, advancing the scope of the Museum’s programs and activites. In his professional life, he has been the owner and CEO of several successful businesses in New York City. He founded and served as President of Durand Advertising for several years before starting a new company, Mutual Parking, Inc. As President of Mutual, he operated a chain of over 50 garages and parking lots, and later merged his company with Garage Management Company (GMC) of New York. Mr. Brownstein also started City Valet LLC, which makes available over 500 parking attendants to chauffeur clientele to their destinations using the customers’ own cars.
Tats Cru
Tats Cru is a group of Bronx-based graffiti artists turned professional muralists whose works transformed graffiti into a highly regarded art form. Working together since the mid-80’s, the current members of Tats Cru are Bio, BG183, and Nicer. Over the last two decades, Tats Cru has produced advertisements for clients ranging from neighborhood businesses and institutions to large corporations like Coca-Cola and Sony. Tats Cru is also a major producer of New York City-style memorial murals, and they have also created artwork for many musicians including Nikki Minaj, Missy Elliott, Metallica, Big Pun, Jennifer Lopez, Rick Ross, and DJ Kool Herc. Tats Cru’s studio is based at The Point in Hunts Point, Bronx where they work closely with The Community Center to educate Bronx youth in all aspects of visual art.
Darlene and Lizzy Okpo
Fashion Designers
Darlene and Lizzy Okpo were born and raised in the Bronx after their parents moved to New York from Nigeria. They started as a creative duo in 2005 with a t-shirt line “Mayhem.” After a 2008 trip to Nigeria, they launched their own label, William Okpo, a women’s wear collection inspired by their parents’ personal style. With William Okpo, the Okpo sisters illustrate the unique aesthetic that results from the juxtaposition of the immigrant’s sense of style combined with American sensibilities.

About the Teen Council

The Bronx Museum Teen Council, comprised of a group of high school students working closely with educators in the Museum’s Media Lab, was created in 2005 to make contemporary art and culture accessible to urban youth. This eight-month after-school program provides Bronx teenagers with an open forum for a dialogue on issues affecting young people while exposing them to the Bronx as an important cultural, political and artistic force. Almost all of the students who have participated in Teen Council continue on to college, often the first in their families to do so.
