Poetry and Social Healing Town Hall with Bronx WritersCorps
Saturday, November 12, 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Following performances by poets Earl Majette and Bonafide Rojas, Bronx Writers Center Director Charlie Vázquez will moderate an open discussion on poetry and social healing as it applies to their years of work with at-risk youth in Bronx WritersCorps.

Bronx WritersCorps is a spoken word and creative writing workshop series that has supported underserved youth in homeless and detention centers in the South Bronx for more than 20 years. Majette and Rojas have been dedicated to the program, helping troubled youth to enhance public presentation techniques, public speaking and writing skills, developing higher self-esteem through written and spoken word. The moderated town hall discussion on social transformation through the arts will end with a Q&A for public commentary and discourse.

Free admission and cash bar

Presented by Bronx Council on the Arts, The Bronx Museum of the Arts and New York Council for the Humanities. Public Programs at the Bronx Museum are made possible by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Mertz Gilmore Foundation.
