Following performances by poets Earl Majette and Bonafide Rojas, Bronx Writers Center Director Charlie Vázquez will moderate an open discussion on poetry and social healing as it applies to their years of work with at-risk youth in Bronx WritersCorps.
Bronx WritersCorps is a spoken word and creative writing workshop series that has supported underserved youth in homeless and detention centers in the South Bronx for more than 20 years. Majette and Rojas have been dedicated to the program, helping troubled youth to enhance public presentation techniques, public speaking and writing skills, developing higher self-esteem through written and spoken word. The moderated town hall discussion on social transformation through the arts will end with a Q&A for public commentary and discourse.
