First Fridays! in Collaboration with Carnegie Hall's Neighborhood Concerts: MATUTO
Friday, November 1, 2013, 6pm to 10pm
First Fridays

Join us for the uplifting beat of Matuto, presented in collaboration with Carnegie Hall’s Neighborhood Concerts.  Drawing on Brazilian folk forms like forró, maracatu, and coco, as well as American bluegrass, spirituals, and swampy Louisiana jams, Matuto’s unique and energetic sound celebrates diverse musical cultures. This event will also feature guided tours of the galleries from 6pm to 8pm, an art-making workshop for kids throughout the event, and a free live art performance by Project YEAH (Young Empowered Artists 4 Humanity) youth entitled "Live Art Mandala Madness"!

Location: Lower Gallery

Carnegie Hall’s Neighborhood Concerts is a program of the Weill Music Institute.  Carnegie Hall's Neighborhood Concerts are sponsored by Target®.  First Fridays!  are made possible with support from The David Rockefeller Fund.  Beer has been lovingly provided by Brooklyn Brewery. Generous support for Community and Outreach programs is provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Booth Ferris Foundation.
