A poetry reading, storytelling, and film screening explores the Bronx through the stories of the boxers who are indelibly linked to the borough.
Fighters Joshua Clottey, Iran Barkley, Luis Resto, Aaron Davis, and Louis del Valle will share their relationship to the borough through the perspective of their boxing practice. Poet
Gabriele Tinti will present his epic songs about boxing and present a screening of a poetry film by Michele Civetta of Quintessence Film.
Nicholas Benson will assist in translating for the event.
Gabriele Tinti is an Italian poet and writer. He has published New York Shots (Allemandi & C., 2011), The Way of the Cross (Allemandi & C., 2012), All Over (Mimesis Publishing, 2013), and A Man (Danilo Montanari Editore, 2013), a collaboration with the actor and artist Burt Young. His books have been presented at many museums and cultural organizations, such as the Queens Museum, the Triennale in Milan, MACRO in Rome, and the Boston Center for the Arts. His books of poetry are in the collections of major international poetry centers, such as Poets House of New York City; the Poetry Center of Tucson, AZ; The Poetry Foundation, Chicago; The Poetry Collection, Buffalo; and the Poetry Library of the South Bank Centre in London. His poems were read by actors like Michael Imperioli, Burt Young, Alessandro Haber and Franco Nero.
