STUDENT DOCENT PROGRAM
This program introduces students to Museum culture by providing a "behind
the scenes" view of the installing of a new exhibition with all
its “nuts and bolts.” Students meet with artists, curators,
registrar, preparator, and installation crew to gather information
on the making of an exhibition. In a group, students examine and discuss
specific artworks and their relevance to contemporary culture. At the
end of the program Student Docents give tours of the exhibition to
groups composed of their peers.
TEEN COUNCIL
Designed to make contemporary art and culture accessible to Bronx
youths, our Teen Council is structured around the production of MUSE
RADIO, a show created entirely by a group of ten students working
closely with instructors in the Media Lab.
The program is available on the Teen Council website and iTunes as a podcast. In addition,
the Teen Council participates in the Museum’s
ongoing series of interviews with contemporary
artists. This ten-month program provides teens with an open forum for
the expression of ideas and dialogue on issues affecting young people,
and the promotion of the Bronx as an important cultural, political
and artistic force. Teen Council participants are selected from previous
students of our Student Docent Program and Lab
Classes. |
