The Community Advisory Council (CAC) is a volunteer group of local residents working collaboratively with The Bronx Museum of the Arts on programming and acting as Cultural Ambassadors to the community. The CAC was created in late 2011 as part of the Museum’s 40th Anniversary initiatives, with the explicit goal of raising awareness of the Museum and organizing programming in response community needs.
Working in close partnership with the Museum’s Public Programs Department, members of the CAC help to enhance ongoing events by providing feedback on themes and activities; selecting speakers, performers, and films; tapping into their networks to identify potential partners; volunteering their time as event hosts, greeters, and assistants; and distributing promotional materials to family members, friends, and associates. The programs aim to foster community engagement by bringing families together, and generate positive social change by providing a safe environment and a meeting place conducive to participation, discourse and celebration of the Borough's urban culture.
Current members of the CAC are: Abigail Georgel, Amanda Manbodh, Andre Trenier, Bernadette Satterfield, Bobby Gonzalez, C. Debra Thomas, Cynthia Batista, Daniel Silvagnoli, Denise Pagan, Dennis Redmoon Darkeem, Fatima Schoenfelder, Flora Montes, Francheska Alcantara-Trapp, Gigi Molina, James McKenzie, John Anthony, Joyce Hogi, Kev Lawrence, Kevin Harris, Killian Jordan, Leenda Bonilla, Linda Cunningham, Michael Guzman, Miriam Tabb, Monica Martinez, Paulette Spencer, Raul Rivera, Rosa Adrianna Vargas, Roy Secord, Samelys Lopez, Santos Santiago, Sherrise Palomino, Veronica Saravia, and William Casari.
